The United States is shaping as a potential host for the 2031 Rugby World Cup
9 November 2019
The BBC is reporting that World Rugby is desperate to grow the sport in the country.
The 2031 date instead of 2027 is to allow more time for rugby union to develop, and to avoid it being sandwiched between the 2026 Football World Cup and the 2028 LA Olympics.
The 2027 event is likely to be hosted in the Southern Hemisphere after three straight tournaments in the North including England, Japan and then France in 2023.
