Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick says match officials should address players in English only during A-League football matches

Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick says match officials should address players in English only during A-League football matches

He's doubled down on his criticism of Australian referee Jonathan Barreiro for addressing three Spanish-speaking players in their native tongue throughout the match.

Merrick says he doesn't think that's appropriate in an English-speaking country.
