A 27-year-old man is charged with murdering her at his central Auckland apartment last December.
Forensic pathologist Dr Simon Stables conducted the autopsy of Millane's body.
He's told the court he found bruising on the upper body consistent with being restrained.
He also found significant bruising on her neck - indicating that's how she died.
Millane's mother became visibly upset as the court was taken through details of her daughter's autopsy.
