Daniil  Medvedev has been unable to do the world number one a favour at the ATP Finals in London

Daniil Medvedev has been unable to do the world number one a favour at the ATP Finals in London

Already out of semi-final contention himself, the Russian had to beat defending champion Alexander Zverev in order to see Rafael Nadal advance.

However, the German has prevailed 6-4, 7-6 to book a date with Austrian Dominic Thiem .

Zverev says Medvedev remains a class talent.

In the other semi, young Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas will square off against six-time champion Roger Federer.
