A mother's grief - as the teen accused of murdering her son appeared in court

A mother's grief - as the teen accused of murdering her son appeared in court

A nine-year-old boy from the small Southland farming community of Otautau was found dead late last month.

A youth accused of his murder has appeared by audio visual link in the Invercargill High Court this morning and has been remanded in custody until next February.

The Otago Daily Times report eight members of the victim's family were at court this morning.

They were emotional throughout the appearance - with the boy's mother crying and screaming as the proceedings ended.
