Canada has become the first nation to reach the quarter-finals of tennis' Davis Cup, beating the United States on their 16th attempt

Vasek Pospisil has defeated Reilly Opelka in straight sets, before Denis Shapovalov overcame Taylor Fritz, also in straight sets.

The doubles rubber in Group F was then conceded by the Canadians, as three of their players were declared unfit.

The tie was the first between the North American neighbours since 1965.
