Vasek Pospisil has defeated Reilly Opelka in straight sets, before Denis Shapovalov overcame Taylor Fritz, also in straight sets.
The doubles rubber in Group F was then conceded by the Canadians, as three of their players were declared unfit.
The tie was the first between the North American neighbours since 1965.
