Questions are being asked about exactly what the New Zealand First Foundation does

Questions are being asked about exactly what the New Zealand First Foundation does

The Electoral Commission is seeking information from the party and its foundation, following claims of undisclosed donations.

Some donors have told Stuff they weren't aware donations were going to the foundation, and not the political party.

Party leader Winston Peters says the foundation is to help promote democracy in New Zealand.

Newstalk ZB political editor Barry Soper says where its money was going, is the key issue.

He says if the foundation was there to fund the party, it would seem electoral law could've been breached.

Soper says that's what the Electoral Commission will be looking at.
