The NBA is studying the possibility of a radical shake-up
24 November 2019
ESPN reports the league is in discussions with the Players Association about a range of proposals which could be introduced for the 2021-2022 season.
Among them, would see the final four teams in the playoffs re-seeded on the basis of their regular season records, opening the way for those in the same conference to meet in the finals.
The NBA is also studying the feasibility of an in-season knockout cup competition featuring 30 teams.
The shake-up would see the regular season reduced from its current 82 games to at least 78 games.
