A Palmerston North farmer has been jailed for two years and his wife fined 30 thousand dollars after admitting charges relating to the abuse of cows and calves

Malcolm and Cheryl Wood have been disqualified from owning animals for five years and ordered to pay court costs of 11-thousand-700 dollars.
MPI inspectors had to be euthanise calves found after a tip off.
Many cows in a 167 strong milking herd were also underfed and in extremely poor condition.
