Police are concerned by people failing to notice emergency vehicles travelling with their lights flashing and sirens blaring.
Auckland Road Policing Manager Inspector Scott Webb says some don't give way, or stop in the middle lane.
He says drivers often don't check their mirrors, or they have music up too loud - so they're oblivious.
Not making way for an emergency vehicle can result in a 150 dollar fine.
