22-year-old Casey Winter has been sentenced to community detention and community work, for the crash in Christchurch in April.
A man and his 12-year-old nephew Ezekiel died - and three others were injured.
Ezekiel's mother, Tusiaisi Tanielu-Loua says it's been a very hard time, and she's pleased they can now have closure.
She says they want to respect and remember the lives their loved ones lived.
