Constable Sean Mathew Doak was acquitted on one of two charges related to wielding a Taser after a trial in August.
The jury found the 25-year-old NOT guilty of assault with a weapon - but guilty of unlawfully presenting a restricted weapon.
In the Waitakere District Court this afternoon, his lawyer continued to argue for a discharge without conviction.
But Judge Noel Sainsbury says Doak's wrongdoing should be marked with a conviction, because New Zealanders "expect better" from police officers.
