Jeet Raval has the selectors' backing

Jeet Raval has the selectors' backing

The New Zealand test opener is averaging just over nine from seven innings since scoring a maiden century against Bangladesh in February.

Black Caps coach Gary Stead says Raval's capable of soaking up deliveries, like an opener should.

The injured Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme will undergo fitness tests on Friday to see if they have recovered enough for next week's first test against Australia in Perth.
