Armed police are standing guard outside the South Auckland house where a man was shot, and seriously injured.
On Tuesday, the Herald revealed 147 people have been hospitalised with serious firearms injuries across Auckland's three DHBs since 2016.
Manukau ward councillor, and former policeman, Alf Filipaina says not all officers should be armed.
But he says the ARTs have a purpose, and are designed to respond quicker than police.
