Heavy rains are moving up the country from the deep South

Several areas of the South Island have been cut off by flooding, with parts of State Highway 6 and 63 closed.
MetService meteorologist Stephen Glassie says it's worst in southern Westland.
He says the rain should be moving to the top of the South Island, while keeping to the west.
