Queenstown businesses are lauding an 24-hour alcohol ban this Crate Day
7 December 2019
It's in place in Queenstown's downtown area - on top of the year-round 8pm to 8am ban.
Police had to intervene in 2016 after people partaking in the event - which sees people try drink an entire crate of beer - displayed disorderly behaviour.
Hospitality Association Queenstown's Chris Buckley says it's been a long time coming.
He says businesses had previously been copping the blame.
