An understrength Black Ferns sevens side have proven they can still win without their stars

New Zealand has won the World Series event in Dubai, beating Canada 17-14 in the final.

Playing without frontline players Portia Woodman, Michaela Blyde and Sarah Hirini due to injury, captain Tyla Nathan-Wong says their effort was unmatched.

The All Blacks sevens have lost the men's final 15-nil to South Africa.
