Rugby Australia has played down one of its most tumultuous years, preferring to laud the fact the majority of its social media followers approved of the new Wallabies coach

The governing body in Australia issued a statement following its final board meeting of the year in Sydney, confirming chief executive Raelene Castle's position is not in question.

It also says the board is united in the process undertaken over the Israel Folau saga.

But one of the headlines of the media release is that 86 percent of Facebook followers and 70 percent of Instagram fans reacted positively to the news of Dave Rennie's appointment as Wallabies coach.
