The University of Canterbury says things will be done differently, following the Coroner's report into the death of a student
12 December 2019
The Coroner found 19-year-old Mason Pendrous had been been lying in his room for two to four weeks before he was discovered.
However the cause of death is unknown.
The university's vice-chancellor Cheryl de la Rey says they'll no longer offer semi-independent accommodation to first-year students.
They'll also implement a buddy system for new students, an early-alert platform for checking engagement with learning systems, and an expanded orientation programme.
