Four homes are being evacuated in the Far North, because of a scrub fire caused by a car crash

Four homes are being evacuated in the Far North, because of a scrub fire caused by a car crash

Emergency services were called to Inlet Road near Lake Ohia about 5.20 last night.

Police say a vehicle rolled, bringing down power lines, with one person being airlifted to Kaitaia Hospital with serious injuries.

The fire has spread to 60 hectares overnight, putting some homes at risk.

Fire and Emergency hope to send helicopters to the scene this morning, to contain the blaze.
