Those competing at the upcoming Australian tennis Open will receive a chunkier pay check

Officials have announced players will compete for a record 71 million dollars at next month's tournament in Melbourne, with the men's and women's singles champions set to pocket four-point-one million dollars each - a 13-point-six per cent increase.
There will be double digit percentage increases across qualifying and every round of the main draw, except the singles finals.
Those who lose in the first round of qualifying will take home 20-thousand dollars, up 33 per cent, while players losing in the first round of the main draw will earn 90-thousand dollars.
