Wanaka police are urging locals to take extra precautions - after a recent spate of burglaries

Wanaka police are urging locals to take extra precautions - after a recent spate of burglaries

Eight were reported last night in the Northlake - Aubrey Road area alone.

Senior Sergeant Miriam Reddington says they'd like to speak to anyone in the area who may know anything - or who has CCTV on their property.

But she says their initial inquiries show the thieves targeted unlocked cars and properties.

Reddington says people should make sure they lock everything - even the garden shed - and keep valuables out of sight.
