    Heavy rain and winds along the west coast of the South Island are expected to ease by tonight


    State Highway Six between Harihari and Whataroa was closed overnight, but is now open.

    MetService Forecaster Kyle Lee says the weather will likely clear in the south by five this evening and further north near Wellington and Wairarapa by 11 tonight.
