Two people have died in a firearms incident on Castlepoint Road near Masterton

Wairarapa Police say the deaths are suspicious and that the two people involved were known to each other.

No one else is being sought in relation to the incident and police don't believe there's any further risk to the community.

Police are likely to be at the scene for a number of days.
