A warning for residential care facilities and hospitals caring for the elderly

A warning for residential care facilities and hospitals caring for the elderly

Otago University research reveals more than half of people living in aged care facilities are at risk of malnutrition, despite all foods being available on planned menus.

Age Concern Canterbury CEO, Simon Templeton, says aged care facilities need to look critically at dietary needs, and make sure they're providing what older people need.

He says that might mean considering six smaller, more frequent meals a day rather than the traditional three main meals.
