Police responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at Ruatoria just before 9.30 Saturday morning - and have since seized a vehicle.
Yesterday, a fight broke out between up to 40 Black Power and Mongrel Mob members in Taradale, Napier.
A 25-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition with a gunshot wound.
Police say one pellet was later found in a child's car seat - who was luckily unharmed.
Police say tensions between the two gangs have escalated in recent months.
They're urging anyone with information to come forward.
