Prebbleton residents are concerned a new recycling plant will create pollution

Prebbleton residents are concerned a new recycling plant will create pollution

Waste Management has gained consent for the plant over the last two years - but without consultation with locals.

A petition has gained more than 700 signatures in its first day.

Locals are concerned an open tyre-shredding machine - and the discharge of waste products to the air will have a negative impact on their community.

The plant will also process solvents, heavy metals, petrochemicals and septic waste - just a kilometre from Prebbleton school.
