A shortage of logs is behind the possible closure of a Northland sawmill

A shortage of logs is behind the possible closure of a Northland sawmill

Carter Holt Harvey says its Whangarei sawmill might shut... putting more than a hundred people out of work.

Wood Processors and Manufacturers Association CEO Jon Tanner says the log shortage isn't surprising.

He says there's high demand for logs out of Northland, particularly from Asian markets.

Staff are being consulted, before the mill's fate is confirmed.
