    Bad news for retail workers

    Bad news for retail workers

Retail NZ reports 27 per cent of retailers are planning to cut back staff as employee wages rise.

Only 45 per cent of businesses hit sales targets this last quarter - making profit margins tight.

Chief Executive Greg Harford says sales growth is nearly non-existent.

He says costs are going up all over the place... and minimum wage increases means retailers are forced to find solutions.
