Southland's mayor estimates up to 40 homes in his region have suffered flooding
9 February 2020
The region's state of emergency will be reviewed on Tuesday, following widespread flooding damage to homes, farms and infrastructure in the past week.
Mayor Gary Tong says things are drying out.
He says they're meeting tomorrow to ascertain where things are at - and should be able to confirm the number of flooded houses then.
But Tong says Fiordland is still open for business.
Many DOC tracks are closed, including the Milford and Routeburn.
