More than 250 people gathered in Flaxmere Park for a karakia yesterday ... two weeks after the four-year-old was taken to Auckland's Starship Hospital.
He's likely to be left brain damaged.
One Voice community services founder Lindsay Abbott organised the vigil, and says she can't understand how this sort of violence happens.
She choked up telling Kerre McIvor the child's pain must have been severe, and overwhelming.
