Numbers of Chinese visitors have been down since well before the coronavirus outbreak

Numbers of Chinese visitors have been down since well before the coronavirus outbreak

Stats NZ says visitors fell by nine per cent in December, with the decline's expected to continue, as travellers continue to be blocked who've been through mainland China.

Population Indicators Manager Tehseen Islam says numbers have been sliding since early 2019.

He says the numbers are still high compared to historic levels - but are decreasing from it's peak.
