Survivors of the March 15 mosque shootings have attended a pre-trial court hearing - for the alleged gunman

Survivors of the March 15 mosque shootings have attended a pre-trial court hearing - for the alleged gunman

The 29-year-old Australian faces 51 murder and 40 attempted murder charges in relation to the Al Noor and Linwood mosque attacks last March - and one charge of engaging in a terrorist act.

Herald reporter Kurt Bayer says about 30 survivors and family members turned up.

Bayer says there was a subdued atmosphere in court - and survivors were supported by interpreters.

Justice Cameron Mander has suppressed all details of what was discussed in the hour-long hearing.
