Wellington Police are thanking all the responsible drivers found during targeted driving operations

Wellington Police are thanking all the responsible drivers found during targeted driving operations

Of the 44,675 drivers stopped for breath tests since January, only 264 were over the legal limit.

Inspector Derek Orchard says it's great to see people driving safely - but some continue to put themselves and others at risk.

In January police issued 449 fines for not using seatbelts, and 312 for mobile phone use.
