    Longstanding Fonterra chairman, John Monaghan, is stepping down from the dairy co-operative's board

    Monaghan's been a Director for more than a decade - seeing through the introduction of a new strategy, operating model, and progress in debt reduction efforts.

    The Country's Jamie MacKay says it doesn't come as a complete surprise.

    Monaghan will leave at the of end of his current three-year term in November.
