Stats NZ reports the cost of the popular fruit fell 26 per cent last month, to an average price $3.44 per kilo.
Consumer Prices Manager, Sarah Johnson, says apple prices usually peak in January and fall again in February - as new season produce hits the shelves.
Boxed chocolate prices also fell - by 23 per cent - a usual trend around Valentine's day.
