Auckland's Catholic cathedral has removed Holy Water from the entrances of the cathedral and its baptismal pool.
People are being told to avoid shaking hands and priests won't touch people's heads when giving a blessing.
City Impact Church is increasing the number of Sunday services at its two venues so no more than 500 people attend.
Life will be streaming all three of its services online this Sunday, instead of opening its doors.
Holy Trinity Cathedral says those who can't attend in person can listen to hymns on the radio instead.
