The call comes in the wake of rival AFL shutting down until at least May 31st in response to new travel measures put in place by Australian federal and state governments to counter coronavirus.
The NRL have been using chartered rather than commercial flights for interstate travel, and there are suggestions the governing body will lose 500 million dollars if the competition's canned.
Australian Rugby League chairman Peter V'landys refuses a comparison to the AFL, preferring a nothing-to-see-here stance.
