It's one of two Auckland schools closed until Thursday, with a staff member at Mt Albert's Marist College also testing positive.
Glendowie College principal Richard Dykes says it's the school's priority to confirm who close contacts are.
He says the 72-hour closure was directed by the Health Ministry, alongside a notice to give to the student's families.
Meanwhile, the father of a Mt Roskill Grammar student has also tested positive for the virus.
The school has a teacher-only day today.
