Keen boaties are being urged to avoid heading out onto the water due to the Covid-19 lockdown

There are reports of people still heading out fishing, swimming or kayaking despite the government's clear message to stay home.

Maritime New Zealand Director Keith Manch says this a good opportunity to do other activities with the people you are isolating with.

He says this could be time to focus and play with the kids by making things such as cardboard boats.
