Current New South Wales coach Brad Fittler has advocated slackening the criteria to allow more big-name players onto the stage.
Fittler's told the Sydney Morning Herald the series would go to another level if, for example, Tongan forward Jason Taumalolo was included.
Lowe, who steered the Maroons to Origin success in 1991, says the contest would lose integrity if that's the case.
