Over the past 48 hours many parts of Northland have received under 10 millimetres of the overall rainfall.
Meteorologist Chris Brandolino says there needs to be a sufficient amount of rain to make an impact on drought conditions.
He says between January and April this year Whitianga has only received seven percent of its normal rainfall
