The Blues and Chiefs have joined the Crusaders in making staff redundancies as the New Zealand Super Rugby franchises grapple with the financial effects of the shutdown

In statements to NZME, both franchises confirmed the cuts had been necessary despite emergency funding to each of the five franchises from New Zealand Rugby.
The final round of Super Rugby was played mid March before the competition was suspended.
The Hurricanes and Highlanders say they have not cut staff numbers.
