Near misses between cars, cyclists and pedestrians have become common on the country's roads during alert level four.
In Wellington, some streets will move to temporary 30 kilometre per hour speed limits from next week .
Wellington City Councillor Laurie Foon says things will be more dangerous this week with more cars on the road.
She says the problem's coming from pedestrians stepping out onto the road while social distancing, and cars travelling too fast.
