Further delays and more cost setbacks for the new billion dollar motorway north of Wellington

After construction cost blowouts and hold-ups, NZTA now concedes the impacts of Covid-19 mean Transmission Gully won't open this November as planned.
Originally the 27-kilometre motorway was due to open this month.
NZTA's project delivery manager Andrew Thackwray says the severity of the Covid setbacks will be known over the coming weeks.
He says the extent of delays is not completely known yet, and a revised programme will be drawn up over the coming days.
The delays are being put down to the lockdown and overseas workers heading back offshore.
