There's been a surge in the number of teenage girls in the area stealing cars and dumping them before fleeing from police.
Two teens appeared in court yesterday, accused of driving a stolen vehicle, and earlier in the week Police arrested a group of four girls caught in another stolen car.
Palmerston North Mayor Grant Smith says people should double check their cars for valuables if they haven't been driven during Covid-19 alert level four and three.
He says if there's suspicious behaviour around cars - call the Police.
