The Royal New Zealand Airforce says it's received 39 enquiries from ex-staff members, who had been employed with Air New Zealand.
Another four enquiries were from pilots who had been employed in other aviation roles.
The Airforce says its re-enlisted 12 of those pilots into a range of flying and ground roles.
Earlier this week, Air New Zealand confirmed about 300 pilots would be losing their jobs, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
