The Government's announced up to 160 workers will be offered jobs across 55 biosecurity and conservation projects around the country.
Conservation Minister Eugenie Sage says the opportunity will give workers the chance to upskill in other jobs like track maintenance and pest control.
The new projects will provide work for three to six months, and will begin over the next two to three weeks.
