    Police have launched a homicide inquiry after confirming a body found at a Southland forestry block is missing man Dale Tama Watene


    Police discovered the Otautau 40-year-old at Longwood Forest yesterday, about 50 kilometres from Invercargill - and a post mortem confirmed his identity today.

    Detective Senior Sergeant Stuart Harvey says police have carried out an extensive investigation over the past few weeks.

    Watene was last seen alive on April 16.
